Twenty-two of us braved the cold and went to Homosassa. We met at the Ellie Schiller Wildlife Center to wish the hippo Lu a Happy 54th birthday and then enjoyed the park. The number and variety of birds was amazing and at the underwater viewing there were many, many species of fish enjoying the warm spring water. That night we were inside at the Monkey Bar at our own private room to escape the cold, thanks to Mary Lou arranging it. Saturday was not as cold and after a group breakfast our paddle to Three Sisters was great. Though the spring head itself was off limits we saw lots and lots of manatees. We stopped at Crackers for lunch and sat outside in the warm sun, then paddled more before returning to Riverside for Happy Hour at Wendy's suite. Later some of us went to the Freezer, some back to the Monkey Bar and some were full and sleepy. Sunday we had our group breakfast and checked out and paddled from the resort to the Wildlife Center and saw so many manatee!. They came up to our boats and some pushed us a little. It was a magical experience. Thank you Bruce for such wonderful paddles. After loading up our boats some of us went to Neon Leon's for some great Cajun food before heading home. It was a great time and the weather cooperated with sunny skies and very little wind.

The negotiated rate is $65.00 for a standard room, $85.00 for a deluxe room. There are rooms reserved under 27/80 Paddlers, Wendy Womble. Call the resort and have them switch the room you want from my name to your name. I also have a 2bedroom, 2 bath with kitchen reserved for any single women that want to join me. Already have 2 and can take 2 more.

FRIDAY,JANUARY 24TH
I would suggest leave home by 7:30 and travel to Ellie Schiller Wildlife State Park, 4150 S. Suncoast Blvd., Homosassa, Fl 34446. (352)628-5343. It will take you 4 hours to get there. We should be there by 11:30 to have time for lunch before the Hippo Encounter at 12:30. Bring your lunch as we will eat when we get there and then will attend the Hippo and Alligator encounter, the Manatee Educational Program, and the Wildlife encounter. There is a $13.00 fee to enter.

After leaving the park we will drive to the resort about 15 minutes away and check in. We will have Happy Hour at THE MONKEY BAR, at 5:30 or as soon after as we can get there on the property. They have good drink prices, fish tacos and other bar food so most of us will call this dinner. If you wish for more they have a restaurant downstairs from The Monkey Bar.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 25TH
Join us for breakfast outside at the 2 bedroom suite. We will have a breakfast bar set up that you can come and have coffee, juice, pancakes, eggs and sausage between 7:30 and 8:30. Want something different to eat, let us know before the trip. They donít supply breakfast for free here so this is a quick alternative to a restaurant. Those who participate, we would appreciate a $5.00 donation to cover the food for the two days.

9:00am. We will leave for Hunterís Park, 104 North East 1st Ave. Crystal River, Fl. Paddles wet at 9:30 and kayak to Three Sisterís
Springs where we should see the most manatees. We will then paddle to Crackers Bar and Grill for lunch. After lunch we will paddle to Big Spring Park for more manatees. Then back to Hunterís Spring Park to take out. No shuttle needed.

Happy Hour will be at the Pool or by the 2 bedroom suite on the river r to sit on if you have one. Dinner will follow at The Freezer. This is a very casual local restaurant only about a half mile away. You order at the bar and they bring your food. They have Patio and outside seating and THEY DONíT TAKE CREDIT CARDS SO BRING CASH.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 26TH:
Join the group breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 at the picnic tables by the 2 bedroom suite. Check out of your room and be at the Riversport Kayak Rental at the resort by 9:30.
We will paddle on the Homosassa and adjoining creeks and on the Halls River with lunch at the Seagrass Resorts ďMarker 7 Tiki Bar and Grill.Ē
We will return to Riverside Resorts to load up and travel home. We can change at the pool restrooms before we leave.
