About an hour west of Tallahassee

My Report:

Gorgeous day. The water, including the open part at the beginning and end, was like glass. Lovely water lilies everywhere. We saw woodstorks - huge and up close, also herons of many kinds, including Great Blues. Passed close to a nest of baby alligators, who slid to the water from their island, but did not seem panicked. No parent around that we noticed, thank goodness. The water level is very, very low. We managed to get through just fine, but large portions (estimated 1/3 to 1/2) of the cypress trail required paddling through those lovely water lilies, which have some pretty tough stems. Could not access the customary lunch spot, either. However, those were relatively minor inconveniences that did not detract from a marvelous trip.
