My Report:

We had a great time in the Okefenokee swamp. One of largest in the world. Blaine, Ruth, Bill and I paddled about 18 miles the 1st day investigating relatively unused trails in our kayaks. We found beautiful pristine, cypress wetlands with gators, hawks, herons and other animals.

At night we camped on a platform at Big Water and listened to the owls, frogs and other unknown creatures serenade us all night. The Budweiser frogs have nothing on these frogs. We played lots of Hearts with intense competition.
The next morning we had a leisurely paddle back to Stephen Foster State Park where we had put in the day before.

Coming back we counted 51 alligators. We were very fortunate to have Blaine leading us. He works for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and shared his vast knowledge of the swamp.
We wrapped up our trip with a tasty lunch at the Shack by the Track in St George. It had awesome barbeque with local flavor and atmosphere.
