There are some interesting paddles the other way from Mandarin Park........but that is another story.

The current is not much of a factor but can be felt during tide changes around the point. Hugging the docks minimizes the current effect. Waves, wind and chop from a NE or NW wind can be bothersome after rounding the point from Bull Bay (Julington Creek).

Not so bothersome in kayaks but there are submerged ruins of old docks that stick out farther than you think they should when nearing the County Dock end.

There are restrooms at both parks. County Dock is adjacent to Walter Jones park just south of the dock.

Mandarin park gets a little crowded on the weekends in the summer. Parking at the ramp isn't as bad as it once was before the additional spots were added but it can fill up. Most of the traffic will be between 10am and 4pm. (wake boats and riders) You can avoid the ramp and launch from the grassy area in the picnic area.
