Shingle Creek Orland / Kissimmee

Anyone ever paddle this creek? I know it passes underneath 528 and extends south down past 192 in Kissimmee and then branches off and connects to lake tohopekaliga.

It looks like it might be interesting, although it runs through some populated areas. There appears to be a preserve area / park with a launch area.

It is funny you bring this. I was asking myself the same thing this past week after driving over the creek at the 528 bridge. If I am not wrong there is a sign saying that it is the home, or something like that, of the Everglades.

This says there is a launch site at Hunters Creek Middle School

Well, that link did not work. I'll try another.

I think I'll put it on my list of places to explore. I found some videos on youtube and found some other information that indicates that it isn't paddled that much. That could be a good thing or a bad thing?

We'll know if it is a good thing or not so good after you post the trip report. It could be good because you will have it to yourself with lots of nature, it could be not so good if it is boring, has so much downfall it makes paddling difficult, is too shallow and you have to wade a lot. Your Greenwave audience wants to know.

My dad and I went out to this park a year or two ago to see what kind of paddling opportunities there were. It didn't look too promising. It appeared as though you couldn't go far at all before things got too overgrown and shallow to proceed. We wound up deciding not to go back with the kayaks. It's possible that we might have missed out on something, but it just didn't look worthwhile to us. If someone else finds out otherwise, I'd love to know because this is right in my backyard.
