I'd like to partake in any kayaking trips happening near Pensacola. I just moved to the area and am eager to check out the paddling available! I'm available 7 days a week for the next few weeks and would love to get some weekday paddling in. However, if you're only available on weekends, please contact me anyway.

Go out to Bear Lake in the Blackwater River State Forest around 8:00 a.m Friday, Saturday, Sunday. The West Florida Canoe and Kayak Club is having their celebration of rivers week-end and there are paddles every day. If you can't do that, there monthly club meeting is the 4 Tuesday at Fonaris Brothers Restaurant at 7:00. You can get in touch with some avid paddlers. The club does allow visitors to paddle, but you need to sign a release form.

Second option: Go online to and ask to join that online group. You will get e-mails of paddles being hosted all over the western panhandle, most of them close to Pensacola. It takes about a week to get approved by that group and start getting the paddling trip announcements.

More advice: Go to Jackson Guardon SR 85 in Niceville and get an Eglin Recreation Pass. Some of the trips will be on streams such as Boiling Creek, Turkey Creek, and the Titi. A pass is required.
