I'm Ralph (CTYaker) and new to the Green Wave Forum. I live in Connecticut but have family in Palm Harbor, Clearwater, Venice, and friends just about everywhere else in the Sunshine State. I paddle a Tsunami125 and have a Pungo120 as a "buddy boat", so look me up if you take a wrong turn and end up in the Nutmeg state, or nearby. I plan to add a sea kayak to my fleet when the account allows. Lusting after a QCC700, but have an open mind. I'm heading down to Palm Harbor for christmas (24th-31st) to see my folks and am looking to paddle in the area. Thanks to the folks at paddling.net, I've got the Silver and the Oklawaha (gore to eureka) on my schedule for the 26th and 27th respectively. Would love to paddle with some locals. Looking to paddle Cooper's Bayou/Philippe Park. I get to Florida a couple of times a year, and will eventually end up there, maybe as soon as four years. (Son at UCONN, Daughter is a freshman in HS) I'm a semi-retired freelance TV cameraman, now teaching high school in Beacon Falls, CT. Look forward to meeting some folks this holiday season. I hear Florida is looking for good teachers...

I am a retired Florida teacher. Don't expect salaries in Florida that you got in Connecticut, although the southern counties pay more than the panhandle area.

When you decide to paddle in the Florida Panhandle, let me know. I always enjoy meeting new folks, and showing off the area streams. You could schedule it on your way further south.

Hi CTYaker and welcome to Green Wave Forum. There are quite a few Tampa Bay area paddlers on Green Wave so I suspect you'll be able to find someone that is open to paddling between Christmas and New Year's.

Also be sure to check out the Tampa Bay Sea Kayakers club for paddles at Philippe Park as I think they get out that way often.

Again - welcome aboard!

The Weeki Wachee on a weekday is awesome. If you're up for a workout paddle from Rogers Park up to the spring and back. Otherwise you can put in at the Canoe Rental (for a fee) and paddle all down river. Enjoy!

I am Joe Patterson, an assistant scout master with a local troop in Seneca, SC. We like bringing the boys down to Florida during their spring break to do a 50 mile trip over 4 or 5 days. I am looking for info on places to camp.
