On March 22, 2008, I saw the pictured horseshoe crabs in the Indian River, just south of Haulover Canal. Coincidently, I had just heard a radio report on horseshoe crabs.   The Florida FIsh and Wildlife Commission (FWC) is seeking public input on horseshoe crab populations.  I found the link Horseshoe Crab Survey and submitted the photo and location information.

As paddlers, we are on beaches, in bays and esturaries and other places where horseshoe crabs are found.  The next time you see live ones, take a few minutes when you get home and report your finding.

Thanks Dave - I'll keep an eye out for them.

Cool picture. I will put the information about the survey in the next WFCKC newsletter. I am sure some of our paddlers get out on the bays and bayous occasionally.
