Here is a one page float plan that is quick and easy-to-use. It lets others know when you are expected to return to your vehicle and will help rescuers locate you should something go wrong. If you paddle solo, you really need to use this.

The way this float plan works is you print it on your computer. Make lots of copies so you have them available when needed. Write in the information and take it with you.

Fold the paper in half and with the "GONE PADDLING" header visible, leave it in your car. Ideal locations are driver's seat or on the dashboard. Be sure not to cover it up with your sunshade.

After authorities have been notified, they will open your car and retrieve the float plan. On the backside (bottom half) are names and basic information on all paddlers, along with your route and camping plans.

Did we forget something or do you have a recommendation to improve this float plan?
