Rambo epic. More portages and pullovers than we've ever before seen.

My Report:

We started out early in order to beat the crowds. We needn't have worried. By the time we made it to the takeout it was quite late in the afternoon. We had a small group of six paddlers (one pair in a tandem) and one person on an inflatable SUP. We've done this 8 mile section several times in the past, even during extremely low water, but this trip had the most pull-overs and portages to date. The previous report by Quincypair is correct. LOTS of downed trees in the creek. We managed to make it back to the take-out but everyone was beat. Hence this not-so-detailed trip report. Hopefully I can edit it tomorrow after my brain has recovered. If not I'll try to post a followup.

Update: Despite all of the above, it was a beautiful day on the river. I saw a Great Horned Owl flying across the creek while I lined up for a pullover. Later, when we arrived at the Blue Springs group much of the spring run was covered in green algae and we saw no giant tadpoles today. As expected on a holiday weekend there were several people playing near the campsite and enjoying the great weather.

After several hours of rambo-ing we finally drew close to the Sylvan Springs run and Pitt Springs. The waterway was packed with tubers but thankfully we were past them fairly quickly. All-in-all it was a good trip. We got quite the workout and hopefully weren't too hard on our guests that tagged along.
