SIlver River, Ray Wayside to Silver Springs

My Report:

We fianlly made it back to do the complete Silver River run. We started at Ray Wayside park at about 9:30. We had the river to ourselves for about an hour before we ran into our first of what was to be many pontoon boats. We saw at least 50 Anhingas, 20 or so Cormorants, and 30-40 Ibis. We counted 13 gators ranging from 2 - 8 feet in length. We did not see any monkey's this time, but some other people did. It was a nice peaceful trip, and just as beautiful as ever. We made it all the way into Silver Springs which was really cool. It was fun watching the tourists and cruising next to the glass bottom boats. We stayed at the Silver River State Park in the cabins, which I highly reccomend. You can stay in cabin # 9 and the trail to the Silver River is right behind your cabin. You can port your kayak or canoe from your cabin if you don't mind walking about 1/2 mile, maybe less. Silver Springs is about 2 miles from the canoe launch at the State Park. If you have never paddled the Silver you need to do it. : )
