Rock Springs Run from Wekiva Island.

My Report:

My brother Rich and I met in Daytona at 7am then headed off to Wekiva Island in Longwood. We arrived just as the gates open at 8am paid the launch fee and we are off. Rich is 59yrs old and this was his first ever kayak trip although he had done some canoeing in his younger years. He borrowed a little kayak from his neighbor. We went upstream all the way to Emeralds Cut which according to Kings Landing website had been closed for the last 15 years. According to my GPS our total trip was 18.7 miles.

Not many wildlife photos as I think we probably made too much noise. Did see many gators but they went in the water before I could snap any pics. Did see a deer, many birds and some ducks including a Mallard family.

I'm not going into a bunch of detail about the trip because most everyone on the forum knows from Yak Dave and others all about the Rock Springs Run. I am going to leave a link to a slideshow you may want to look through.
