A short paddling trip from and back to Katie's Landing

My Report:

Saturday April 16th we paddled the Lower Wekiva River from and back to Katie's Landing. It was sunny but so windy that I thought about not paddling at all when we arrived to Katie's. We ususally paddle to the north and then come back south. The wind was coming from the south very strong and the current wass fast.

After thinking about it for a minute or so decided to give it a try but staying close to Katie's. The recent storms did a number on the river. Several downed trees everywhere but you can paddle by with no problems. It just look odd since the appereance of the river changed a lot.

The best part of our trip was a pic of a Prothonotary Warbler. It is the first time we are able to get a pic of the little yellow bird. We also saw the usual herons and a couple of raptors (osprey and red shouldered hawks). The gators were not pic friendly on this trip, which was a surprise for me.

Not the best paddle trip, wildlife wise, we have had, but it was not bad at all.
