You cannot go wrong paddling this section of the Wekiva River. This time it was really nice, as usual. Lots of wildlife and a crystal clear river. What else can you ask for?

My Report:

This was a solo paddle and I have to say that was the only thing I did not like; being there without my wife. The river, as always, offering its beauty and scenery. Had the chance to chat with YakDave when arrived at Katie's Landings but did not paddle with the Central Florida Expert. I am too slow and he likes his solo paddles so did not ask.

The river is beautiful. The lack of heavy rains makes the water looks clear because all the water is coming from the springs that feed the Wekiva River. The water level was not a problem, but you will always hit some submerged branches.

Not too many gators out, which was a surprise because after 9:30AM it was sunny. Traffic in the river was not heavy. One motor boat, a guy fishing from his yak, and two large groups in kayaks...ahhh...and YakDave, whom I only see once on the river when he was on his way up and I was still on my way down. Told you I am slow.

Made it to the mouth of Blackwater Creek Creek and turned around. My curiosity, or stupidity, made me take a different route and ended up paddling 15 minutes up river to a downed tree only to paddle back to where I started, luckily had a good landmark as a reference. After finding my way it was just flawless and fun. Spent almost 7 hours in the river and today my back is making me pay, I forgot the yak seat, so do not try that. It hurts.
