Silver River Adventure

My Report:

My wife and I were visiting her parents near Lady Lake and decided to bring the kayaks with us from NC. Research showed that this trip was somewhat easier and shorter if we put in at Silver River State Park. I recommend this if you want to make this about a two to three hour excursion. Yak carts are needed as the carry to the put in is about 1/2 mile. The put in ramp makes for easy access and we were off on our way in no time. We passed several boats along the way and saw an abundance of wildlife. The only monkeys we spotted were very close to the the Silver River boats and the attendent would not let us get close enough to take good photos. I especially enjoyed seeing the numerous types of fish along the way. Too bad fishing is not allowed. The alligators did make me a little nervous as I am not used to paddling near these in NC. We will definitely have to make this a regular trip when we visit our relatives nearby.
