(Fort Walton Beach landing) Last week was a sweet run through the Destin East Pass and down the uninhabited stretch of beach towards Fort Walton. There were few boats, mostly fishermen. This week was the alternate universe. The Billy Bowlegs Festival.

(Out the pass and into the Gulf) A beautiful trip from Shalimar Florida, across Choctawhatchee bay, out the pass. Smooth small rolling waves in clear green gulf waters with an unseasonably crisp north wind.

With Mother Nature providing clear skies and beautiful aquamarine blue waters, I launched my kayak from the west side of Destin Bridge for a tour of Destin Harbor. I found big boats, fishing, sunbathing and the World's Luckiest Fishing Village.

And how difficult is it to catch a pirate with their phone number printed in two foot high letters on the sail? You'd think with all of the cops, marine patrol and coast guard auxiliary they would have been able to pick him up. Smile Looks like you had a good time at the festival and thanks for sharing!
