I live in south ga and am a local to the alapaha is a beautiful river and is very natural and undeveloped...I have not paddled the section of river south of statenville although I will...there are put ins and take outs, but they are fire and far between..about 7hrs between each put in...the section from Lakeland, ga to stockton, ga has beautiful cypress trees and Sandy beaches around every corner with a canopy to shelter you from the Sun...the next section from Stockton, ga to May day has all the rapids it's a great float and the rapids are swift, but navigable for any level paddler...the next section calms and the landscape begins changing from Sandy beaches to steep limestone banks from May day to statenville...each section takes about 7hrs depending on if your fishing or stopping to go back through some of the rapids for a 2nd or 3rd time...a lot of fun and beautiful scenery...I would suggest anyone capable of making the trip to do so...

I read all the reports - I must have been reading while you were posting, because every time I came back to the main page, there was another report. Sounds like you had a fabulous time with all these paddles.
