(US29 bridge to Fischer Landing) Big Escambia has three distinct sections. The first is a 2.5 mph creek through open forests. The creek narrows and flows through a cypress forest. Finally the creek flows into the wider Escambia River.

My adventure partner of 35 years has her hand on the mend following hand surgery this past spring. This was her longest paddle yet. Chris used our Olympus SW790 waterproof camera. I used my Nikon DSLR but have great fear of dropping it in the water. The Nikon went in its Pelican box for the section through the trees and I used the Olympus. Chris had her hands full just getting through the trees. To her credit, she did not capsize even though she went cross ways and even backwards at times. Once out of the trees we switched cameras again. Good thing for me. Chris took that shot on the Escambia River. She is a wizard to take something as uninteresting as me and make a fairly interesting product.

Yes, it's "back in the saddle again", or more like "back to paddling again". It was great to get back out on a creek.
