Turkey Hen Creek is located below the Cox Bridge over the Shoal River to the R of SR 85 south of Crestview. The portion of the creek that is usually paddled is short, and then the creek empties into the Shoal River which in turn joins the Yellow River.

Warm winter day after subsiding high water of earlier heavy rains. 0.6 mile on Turkey Hen to 7.6 miles on Shoal River that fanned out before reaching the 0.5 mile stretch of Yellow River to Little Gin Hole boat ramp take out.

GPAX - Thanks for the photos, trip report and reminder about the Eglin permit necessary to paddle this section of river. I always enjoy seeing reports about my old stomping grounds in NW FLA.

I have never paddled the Panhandle, but there are bluffs in Central Florida. East central, that is. The Econlochatachee River and Turkey Creek, for example. There may even be photos on the Forum. Cool

And another new location for NW FLA. You go! As much as I like paddling in the central part of the state, I do miss the high riverside bluffs that are found between Tallahassee and Pensacola.
