QP, I am not familiar with the Brule, my Wisconsin paddling being mostly on lakes. I have paddled the Crystal RIver in Waupaca, Central Wisconsin. Has as much fun last time, at 45, as I did when I was 10.

YakDav, moonlightdesigns, are either of you familiar with the Brule which is on US 2 cutting across the peninsula off which Apostle Islands are located. We are thinking of doing the Brule River on the trip back to Florida in September. I think at that time of year the Apostle Islands would not be a wise trip for advanced beginning paddlers. We may venture (just a bow exposure) into Lake Superior from the Au Train in Michigan, however, and maybe skirt part of the shore if the weather and conditions are mild.

YakDav, thanks for previous suggestions on looking at some of the Wisconsin Islands. If we survive with good memories this summer's Florida-Alberta and back sequence, we may try going north on the way up and a more southerly route on the way back next year.

Moonlight, why are you not posting more reports?

Wow. Although I've lived in Florida since 1989, Wisconsin will always be "home" The greatest place in the world....in the summer. One of my brothers was at nearby Isle Royale National Park two weeks ago, and loved it.

By the way, we do have bears in Florida. I'll post a picture from Rock Springs Run.
