Owl Creek is located in northern Franklin County in the Apalachicola Forest. There are excellent signs to direct one from SR 65 to the boat ramp and camping area at Hickory Landing. This stream empties into the Apalachicola River and is deep and broad.

Frances - really good to see you back on the water and what a nice surprise to see that you're paddling with Fred. I know Fred through a mutual friend that now lives in TN (ptpdls on Green Wave). Enjoyed the photos too!

Did you run across a bridge there? And was there an occurence?

7 paddlers went out on Owl Creek Sunday, April 4. It was an absolutely perfect open water paddle. No current, and no wind.
The water at the Hickory Landing Boat ramp was brown, an indication that the Apalachicola River was influencing the stream. We paddled up to the fancy houseboat and hung a right up Black Creek to a boat landing at the end of FR 101. Good take-out spot for a rest. Saw 5 swallow-tailed kites on the way back to Hickory Landing.

Fascinating, Paddlesolo. The houseboat was a great find, and the bees. The twisted cypress was very interesting, as well. Keep paddlin'.

Nothing like finding a new place to float your boat.
