Your right, I've done Cockroach Bay before, it's about 5 miles south of where I was. The day I went there, not a weekend, the power boat traffic at the launch was crazy. The mangroves at E.G. Simmons were much nicer. Didn't see one piece of trash the whole day.

There is a marked trail through the mangroves of Cockroach Bay.

Thanks for the trip report. Your goal to paddle the entire coastline of Tampa Bay is admirable. Too bad about the flip but good you were close to shore.

Getting in and out of boats provides a perfect opportunity to flip. Glad you were close to shore and all that was injured was your pride. Life happens!
