The tea-colored water of Fisheating Creek flows approximately 50 miles to Lake Okeechobee. Portions of the creek are not passable but for those that are you'll see hardwood forests of majestic oaks, cypress swamps, wet prairies and a lot of wildlife.

I wondered why a location was on the Forum without any paddling trips. I decided to stop by the Fisheating Creek Campground on my way home from MIami to correct the situation.

(Fisheating Fort Center Trail) The Fort Center Trail at Fisheating Creek is a hiking trail not a paddling trail. It is possible to paddle this area by using a launch point north of the Fort Center but I didn't check into that. If you want to stretch your legs on a nice hike, read on!

(Fisheating Creek Campground) Was down south on business and stopped at Fisheating Creek Campground. Took a few snapshots so you can see what the campground is like and a couple of photos of Fisheating Creek. Water level was up - about 4.5 feet.

Ed, just consider me your kayaking konscience. But instead of a little devil with a pitchfork on your shoulder, its Yakdave with a double bladed paddle.

Hummm... excuse for not kayaking. No good one really. I should have went kayaking for 2 hours instead of doing the hike. Just couldn't squeeze it into my "free time". Next time I'll catch a shuttle at the campgrounds up to the first bridge and paddle down river.
