Located south of Tampa, the Braden is a coastal blackwater river that twists and turns for 15 miles before reaching Ward Lake, a drinking water reservoir. While flowing past residential areas, the river is surprisingly scenic, clean and nature-filled.

(Ward Lake to Linger Lodge) I'll have to admit the Braden River exceeded my expectations. After paddling other urban rivers such as the Cotee in New Port Richey, I envisioned seawalls and litter. NOT SO! The Braden is clean, scenic and has a nice population of critters.
