There are a couple River Styx in Florida. This one is a short tributary of the Apalachicola River located in the Apalachicola National Forest south of Bristol.

The Kennedy creek upstream from put-in was a broad flood plain with only cypress and tupelo trees. No understory plants or shrubs, so looking through the woods its a landscape of water-shaped almost surreal trunks which should provide photographers with days of interesting shooting. Since the Apalachicola River Basin is the most diverse ecosystem in the US, seeing only only two species of trees in a large area is remarkable. One of the paddlers said it reminded him of a scene from Lord of the Rings. Since the tupelo arcs over the creek, it provides a cool canopy all the way upstream. I would agree with Paddlesolo that of the two rivers, the Kennedy, at least at this time of the year is lovelier. Lots of river snakes, sunning on tree branches, and a lots of turtles on both rivers.
