Easy access from marinas off ALT-90 between Pensacola and Pace. Good way to explore salt marsh and Escambia River. My favorite areas: Nonegas Island, White River and Saultsman's Bayou.

Normally I donít go mid-week, but I had been promising my neighbor David to take him kayaking for about a year. Thatís about the same amount of time since I paddled Saultsmanís Bayou. Time to make good and get in some local Pensacola kayaking.

The weather was sunny and warm for this early morning Cinco de Mayo kayak trip with Dusther and his teenage daughter. It was a series of first - our first trip together, her first time in a kayak and first time any of us had launched from this spot.

It was slightly overcast when we took this short 6 mile (roundtrip) paddle from Swamp House Marina to the Escambia River Power Plant.

Ok, I lied when I did the trip report. Just remembered it cost $4 launch fee from Swamp House Marina. For those expecting to use the boat ramp for free, sorry about that!

Usual paddle from Gator's Swamp House Marina by UWF around Saultsman's Cove. Mostly marsh areas with some small islands and sand beaches. Check out for details.
