Myself, Trailtalker, her nephew and my granddaughter, Kadie Bug, headed out for a little over nighter back pack trip on Flat Island. We loaded little Kadie bug up with all that she could pack in and we all set off for a lovely little hike.
It was a little warm so the mosquitos were a little bothersome but not so much that it was a nuisance.
We saw many armadillo, a nice water moccasin, and a large coral snake that had found a home in a downed tree stump.
We hiked in about a mile and a half to our campsite. We immediately unloaded and set up our hammocks and tent. I love my hammock for camping in. Trailtalker set up her Rainbow tent for her and Kadie while Dustin and I roughed it in our soft, rocking hammocks.!!!
Before dark came we gathered firewood which was abundant then lit a nice campfire.
We made hot dogs for dinner and hot chocolate while sitting around the fire.
The temps were perfect for camping though I did get a little chilly in the hammock without an underquilt.
The next morning we served hot oatmeal for breakfast then stoked up the fire and sat around it for about anotherhour before we hiked back out. It was an end to an incredible two days....
