Blackwater Creek/ Lake NorrisA very interesting paddle that changes character frequently.

My Report:

Enter Blackwater Creek at small launch area by equestrian parking lot. The water level changes a great deal and trees fall to block the creek frequently, so be prepared with a spirit of adventure.
After entering the creek, head upstream through a lovely swamp twisting northward.
If you brave the treefalls, you will arrive in Lake Norris in about 20 minutes or so of paddling.
Turn west along the shore, and see the most distinctly interesting cypress trees you may ever see. If you find more unique cypress trees in your adventures, I'd love to hear about it.
You may circumnavigate the lake, or turn around and head back. There is a take out on the western shore that leads to a high, dry area that is available for camping with permission from Lake County Water Authority.
There is also a small dock on the north end where a lunch stop is possible.
Very lovely in spring and winter.
If you wish company on this paddle, contact me.
Best of Paddling,
