Blackwater river is a sandy bottomed, mostly shallow river with tea-colored water. Most of its length is run through state forest, so houses are rare. This trip went from Kennedy Bridge near Hurricane Lake to the Cotton Bridge at Hwy 4 - about 10.4 miles.

(Blackwater R Kennedy to Peadon) This is a favorite trip for many. Over the past two months we have worked once a week to clear a path at the big log jam. You should have a clear path. Other areas have been improved too.

(Bryant Bridge to Deaton Bridge) An unseasonably warm fall day on the river. How much better can it get?

(Bryant Bridge to Deaton Bridge) This sand bottom river is a favorite with canoeists and kayakers. State Park with camping, picnic areas, etc. Good put-in from roads. Lots of snow white sandbars, some riverside cliffs. Water varies from tea color to black from tannin staining.
